134 THE BATTLE OF HAMPTON ROADS

History, Music and Religion

We've all driven across the Monitor-Merrimac/I-664 bridge tunnel, but how many of us know that as we do, we are observing the site of the 2-day naval engagement between Union & Confederate forces known today as the Battle of Hampton Roads that occurred 164 years ago? As we'll discuss during this class, both days of this battle were filled with transcending, pivotal actions for both the two Civil War belligerents as well as for naval warfare in general. Join instructor CDR Jack Granger, USNR (Ret) and forever change your drive on I-664! CLASS LOCATION/TIME: Saint Patrick Catholic School, 7:00-9:00 pm.
