150 A MUSICAL HISTORY OF COUNTRY MUSIC

Arts and Music

Join Steve Hammond with Martha and Shea Roebuck, a group of talented musicians who share a passion for acoustic music - especially roots/country music. This “class” is an oral and musical retelling of the history of roots/country music. We’ll be performing songs that trace the origins of country music from Appalachia to the Mississippi Delta and demonstrate the influences of the variety of traditions and musical styles from these areas. You leave with an enhanced knowledge of the history, influences, and styles of country music as well as a song in your head.
