150 Guided Boat Tour - The Battle of Hampton RoadsHistory, Politics, and Religion
Course Location: Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, 7001 Hampton Boulevard, Norfolk.. Have you ever heard of the "Monitor and the Merrimac" and wondered what that was all about? Come join “CAPTAIN Jack” on this unique 2 hour journey as we visit the actual locations of one of history’s most famous naval battles, the 1862 Battle of Hampton Roads. We'll set the stage by discussing this period in the Civil War as well as other historical events on our waters, all while passing by the many notable waterfront landmarks that make our waterways so dynamic and interesting. Please wear warm, layered clothing and a windbreaker appropriate for the temperatures. Only wear footwear without heels please. Sunglasses and hats recommended. Lifejackets will be provided and must be worn by all children under the age of 13. More specific recommendations in attire will be sent closer to the event date as the probable weather conditions are known. Embarkation and debarkation will be at the Norfolk Yacht & Country Club, 7001 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk VA 23505. There will be two separate trips during the day (total of number of participants is 10 per trip). This course is weather-dependent, and a primary day (Saturday, April 14, 2018) and a back-up day (Saturday, April 28, 2018) will be scheduled to allow for inclement weather. The first trip will depart at 10:00 am and return at noon. The second trip will depart at 12:30 pm and return at 2:30 pm. Participants should plan to arrive 20 minutes ahead of their scheduled departure.
